Today’s Strike in RBI withdrawn-Bank conveyed their unconditional apology:

AIBEA CIRCULAR LETTER NO: 26/217 /2012/45                                              6th  August, 2012

Dear Comrades,
                                         Today’s Strike in RBI withdrawn
Vide our circular letter dated 3.8.2012 we had informed that the leaders of the Reserve Bank Workers Union, Mumbai including Com. S.V.Mahadik, their All India General Secretary were arrested by Police when they were going to the management to submit a memorandum on their demands as a part of their agitation.  To protest against it, All India Reserve Bank Workers Federation had given a call for strike on 6.8.2012 (today).  From AIBEA, we had also extended our support and solidarity and lot of telegrams / fax letters were sent by our units.

On Friday late evening, all the 26 Office Bearers (including 6 women office Bearers) who were arrested were released by the police on bail.

Today morning, faced with the strike call, the RBI management held discussions with AIRBWF at 8.00 A.M. and the strike has been withdrawn based on the following :

1. Bank conveyed their unconditional apology for the development leading to police action in the Bank against the Office Bearers of the Union.
2. Bank will extend all co-operation to close the police action and withdrawal of the cases.
3. In future no such police action will be repeated in dealing with the issues of the trade union.
4. No wage cut for the walkout in Mumbai on 3.8.2012.
5. Issues raised by the AIRBWF in the agitation will be discussed and resolved.

While conveying our congratulations to AIRBWF for their preparedness to fight back the high-handedness of the RBI management, we thank all our units for the prompt response in sending the protest letters.
With greetings,
Yours Comradely,
C.H.VENKATACHALAM
GENERAL SECRETARY
