CIRCULAR NO. 26/101/2011/18 4th August, 2011
TO ALL UNITS AND MEMBERS:-
Dear Comrades,
Strike is on – march ahead
Text of UFBU Circular No. 13
“ Further to the conciliation proceedings held on 1-8-2011 by the Chief Labour Commissioner, another round of meeting took place before the CLC yesterday (3-8-2011) morning. In the meantime, we were informed that the Finance Ministry officials would meet UFBU in the afternoon. Hence the conciliation meeting was adjourned to 5-00 PM.
In the afternoon, a meeting with the UFBU was held by Mr. D K Mittal, Secretary, Dept. of Financial Services, Ministry of Finance, Govt. of India. Mr. Rakesh Singh, Additional Secretary, Mr. Alok Nigam, Joint Secretary, Mrs. Shreya Guha, Director of the Dept. of Financial Services / Banking Division were also present in the meeting. From the IBA, Mr., M D Mallya, Chairman, IBA was present along with Mr. Unnikrishnan, Dy. Chief Executive and Mr. Venugopalan, Officer on Special Duty.
Mr. Mittal, who had assumed his office in the Finance Ministry only on 1st August, 2011 and who had taken initiative to hold this meeting, stated that given the present economic condition in our country, the strike would have a negative impact and the Government is always prepared to look into our grievances and issues. Mr. M D Mallya, Chairman, IBA also appealed to the UFBU to reconsider the strike call and come forward to resolve the issues by discussions.
In this background, the conciliation proceedings were re-convened before the Chief Labour Commissioner in the evening. While taking note of the appeal of the Government and IBA, since nothing concrete had emerged as solutions to our demands, UFBU informed the Chief Labour Commissioner that it is constrained to proceed with the Strike Call. The conciliation meeting concluded accordingly.
Comrades, in view of the above we call upon all our unions and members all over the country to go ahead and implement the strike call as scheduled.
UFBU has convened its meeting at Bangalore on 10th August, 2011 to discuss and decide further course of action programmes.”
With greetings,
Yours Comradely,
