The First Zonal level Business Development Committee Meeting held on 28-10-2013 at Chennai...

The first Zonal level Business Development Committee Meeting was held on 28-10-2013  in our Zonal Office-Chennai.  From our Union, our General Secretary-Com K Ravigopal,   Secretary-Com S Soundararajan, Treasurer-Com N Jagadeswaran and Com Krishnan-General Secretary, Kerala State attended.

We have presented our views in the meeting on behalf of our Union.  Opening with thanking the Zonal Management for reviving the meeting almost after a decade, we made the following points :

( i) We have expressed the happiness, at least now, the bank is realising the importance of employees' organisation's role in the development of the business in our bank.

(ii) Our Union is always for Participative management, and for that purpose only, we fought for workmen directors in banks and it exists in   all Nationalised banks; so we expect the bank also to recognise the participation of organisations in this regard.

(iii) We have told, that whenever, we are having our Committee meetings, Trade Union seminars or Conferences, we are inviting our executives to attend the same and we lend our platform for them for propagating the business development goals of the bank.

(iv)Business development is directly linked with customer service and in turn customer service depends on staff strength which is not there in most of the branches.

(v ) There is acute shortage of clerical/sub staff and also officers, which is to be filled immediately to develop the business.

(vi) The Government itself says, our bank is having highest shortage of staff- 5815 Officers & 3615 clerks as on 31-03-2013.

(vii)Acute shortage of sub staff is there and sub staff members are the backbone of business in branches, which is to be restored by recruiting more sub staff.

(viii)Also management is changing the branch heads often,  which  affects the business of the bank.

(ix) Every month, we are opening branches on one side and retirement/VRS takes place on the other side, which requires immediate filling up of adequate staff.

(x) Also only happy staff will produce more, so staff grievances are to be attended as and when without any delay; many HRMs are not doing that.

(xi)CBS is not working properly which affects the customer service and needs improvement.

(xii)We should encourage customers to visit our branches to achieve cross selling instead of asking them to go for ADCs.

(xiii)We are also equally have concern for recovery of NPAs and we will ask our members to extend cooperation.

(xiv) In the SANKALP scheme, we have reservations on the sharing of incentive.  Instead of sharing in percentage to manager/ officer/staff, it should be allotted to branch instead, as it is the team work and management also says it should be a team effort.

(xv)Also staff welfare measures to be increased & sharing of profit to the employees to be widened, to involve them more for business development.

(xvi)Business development meetings to be held quarterly at Regional, Zonal and apex levels.

(xvii) Zonal level structured meetings to be revived on quarterly basis.
